Alice and her parents love spending time under their favorite tree, a huge old oak. When the tree suddenly falls ill, they are devestated. Unexpectedly, many of their neighbors pitch in to try and save the tree from the effects of a chemical spill. (Someone even knits a giant scarf for the tree!) Sadly, they cannot save the tree, but Alice remembers the acorns she has collected for years.
