Peach Boy (thus named because he was found inside a peach) has been doted on by the old couple who discovered him. Peach Boy, now fifteen, decides to go on an ogre-killing expedition to protect the people of his country. Joined by a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant, he and his team vanquish the ogres and live happily ever after with the old man and woman. This traditional Japanese story is joined by eight other tales, each about 4-5 pages long, making them ideal read-alouds.
