When Liplap, a young bunny, goes outside to build his first snowbunny of the season, he feels like something is missing. "I wish grandma could see my snowbunny," Liplap thinks to himself. Grandma has recently died, and Liplap is still very sad. As with anyone who has lost a loved one, Liplap finds comfort in many different ways: he snuggles with his parents, uses Grandma?s old buttons to decorate his snowbunny, thinks of Grandma, and cries. When the night comes, Liplap?s mother tells him a story. "...When the first rabbits died they became stars in the sky. And to this day they come out at night and watch over us." The book achieves a nice balance of metaphor and reality.
