Kondi is determined to make a galimoto - a push toy made out of wire scraps. But he doesn't have enough wire. So Kondi sets out across his village in search of more wire. He barters with one friend, bargains with another, and convinces grown ups at his uncle's shop, the flour mill, and the bicycle repair shop to let him have their wire scraps. He works all afternoon, and by nightfall, his special galimoto is ready. Wonderful dialog and evocative watercolors make this a joy to read aloud.
