'Dear Fish, Where you live is pretty cool. You should come visit us someday?Sincerely, Peter Allan." When Peter puts his letter in a bottle and throws it into the sea, he certainly doesn't anticipate what happens next. It starts in his house with "a strange dripping and a flipping, a flopping and a gurgling" and spreads through the entire neighborhood. Fantastic, vibrantly-colored woodcuts reveal the unusual ways the Fish have infiltrated the town. But the Fish are wreaking havoc. So Peter writes another letter, "You are nice, but you are fish. You should live at home. Plus I think I hear your mothers calling you." On his next visit to the seashore, Peter finds note: "Dear Humans?"
